Volunteer
We have several ways you can make a contribution to the neighborhood. Each of these are discussed below. We hope you will take a moment to consider volunteering for areas that you’d like to contribute to. As our motto says: A Neighborhood Is Only As Strong As the People Who Care About it.
EarthDay/Citywide Clean Up
This year’s EarthDay/Citywide Clean Up will be on ____TBA_______. In years past, we have focused our efforts on Nevin & Eddyside Park, to spruce it up for the summer. This year, we will also be looking for additional ideas, including renovating our Sign at Wawa, as well as some debris collection on Cattell Street, depending upon the number of volunteers we have.
That’s where you come in. We depend on folks, both adults and kids, to come support the clean up efforts. The more folks volunteer, the more projects we can tackle.
We are particularly excited to get things ready for the opening of the new renovated fountain in Nevin Park. If we get a good planting plan developed for the area around the fountain (see below) we will start putting the planting beds in place during this event.
Also, if there are items you think should be included in the Clean Up, please list those in your comments section of the volunteer registration form or email your suggestions to news@eastonchna.org
Nevin Fountain: Making History Beautiful
Well, it’s been a long time coming, but we are just about ready for the final dedication of the renovated fountain at Nevin Park. There are still a few bricks to go in, and as the weather has warmed up, we will be taking care of those in the coming weeks.
While the city has some additional work to do on the paths and such, one major element that neighbors need to do is plant planting beds around the fountain to complete this grand installation.
We are looking for talented “Green Thumb” ideas for these beds, as well as folks to do some of the heavy lifting associated with setting up the beds. Ideally, we would have some of the Hill’s Master Gardeners work together in the coming weeks to develop a lovely, low-maintenance planting plan which we will share with the association in coming meetings. We will be looking for donations of the selected plants for the installation, so let us know if you’re interested in helping in that area as well.
